Free Public Training: Culturally Responsive Practice: Responding to Family Violence in Migrant and Refugee Communities

This free public online training offers professionals who is working in the community sectors to better support migrant and refugee women and their children who have or are experiencing family violence. There is a cap of 3 professionals per organisation.

Description

This free public online training is designed for community sector professionals to enhance the ability to support migrant and refugee women and their children who have experienced or are experiencing family violence.

During the training participants will:  

  • Reflect on their own professional practice using culturally responsive practice, cultural humility, unconscious bias practices and an intersectional approach. ​  
  • Discuss how systemic barriers and discrimination may impact on clients/families from migrant and refugee backgrounds to seek and sustain service support.​  
  • Explore and respond to the impacts of migration, visa status and complex family dynamics for migrant and refugee clients/families in their journey through intake, assessment, and safety planning.  
  • Apply the principles of culturally responsive practices when engaging with clients/families from migrant and refugee backgrounds experiencing multiple systemic barriers and discrimination.
